The Lincolnshire Hub training was a departure from anything we have provided in the past. The training started with an off site visit to Lincoln with a range of technologies and a treasure hunt. The teachers were given tasks which they had to report on in real time using twitter and other applications which were all collated on our web site.
We had deliberately not brought together a group of teachers who were necessarily techy but more people who understand the pedagogy and are from schools who have the capacity to share the practice across the whole of their institution and with other schools in their area.
I will blog in detail on my own blog this weekend but just want to reflect on what we have achieved and what needs to happen next.
- All of the teachers filled in a short, medium and long term 10 days, 10 weeks and 10 months plan which they undertook to deliver
- We explored a wide range of applications and approaches which the teachers will use in their schools.
- We looked at asking teachers in their schools to lead on specific applications so not every development is seen to be coming from the Hub Leader
- All Hub leaders created their own blogs which they will use to record their journey as a Hub Leader and also to introduce their classes to blogging
- Some of the Hub Leaders have discussed setting up their class blogs together using Quadblogging
- The Hub Leaders agreed to deliver a Teachmeet style presentation to all other Lead Teachers in December showing how they have used the training to impact on their practice
- All of the Hub Leaders asked to maintain email contact to allow us to continue to inspire each other with what we are doing
- As LA consultants we were taken to very uncomfortable places by our Hub Leaders who constantly challenged our thinking and planning – I learned so much from the three days and it was a complete privilege to lead this training.
